NYSC Announces Date For 2025 Batch “A” Stream II Orientation Programme
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released the schedule for the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course, a crucial step for graduates preparing to begin their one-year national service.
This orientation is more than just a formality — it’s the foundation for everything that comes afterward. It helps prospective corps members settle into the program, understand the responsibilities ahead, and get a first-hand feel of what serving Nigeria truly entails.
When Will It Begin?
If you’re one of the selected corps members for this stream, here’s what you need to know:
- Camp Opens: Wednesday, June 11, 2025
- Registration Period: June 11 to June 13, 2025
- Registration Deadline: Midnight, Friday, June 13, 2025
- Swearing-In Ceremony: Friday, June 13, 2025
- Camp Closes: Tuesday, July 1, 2025
All participants are expected to report to the camp assigned in their Call-up Letters. Those who studied abroad must come along with their International Passports and the originals of every document they submitted online.
Important Travel and Safety Advice
The NYSC management strongly warns against traveling to camp at night. It’s safer to break your trip and rest if it’s getting late. Use only certified motor parks and avoid unregistered or roadside vehicles.
If your journey stretches beyond 6:00 PM, stop at military or police barracks, NYSC Secretariats, or Corps Lodges where you can safely pass the night.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to have firm conversations with their wards about security awareness, especially while en route to camp.
Documents You Shouldn’t Forget
For those from polytechnics or monotechnics, your National Diploma (ND) Certificate must be presented during registration — this is non-negotiable.
And a word of caution: don’t bring forged documents. The NYSC has put strong verification systems in place and anyone caught will face legal consequences.
Lost Your Call-Up Letter? Here’s What to Do
- If you collected your Call-up Letter through your institution, and it gets lost, first get a police report and sworn affidavit, then return to your school for guidance on the next steps.
- If you printed it online, you can simply reprint it from the NYSC portal.
Legal Consequences for Defaulters
Skipping service or faking eligibility is a punishable offense. The NYSC Act (Cap. N84) is clear about this:
- Anyone who fails to report for service, or dodges it altogether, risks prosecution.
- The same applies to individuals who are ineligible or have already served but try to sneak into the program again.
Special Considerations for Married Women
Married, pregnant, or nursing mothers who weren’t posted to their husbands’ states can now go for orientation in the state where their spouse resides. To do that, they must bring:
- Marriage certificate or evidence
- Husband’s ID
- Proof of husband’s residence
