NUC Approves New Programmes for Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to introduce several new academic programmes.
This approval comes after a rigorous Resource Verification exercise, during which a specialized panel of experts evaluated the institution’s capacity—both in terms of faculty expertise and infrastructural readiness—to accommodate these programmes.
New Undergraduate Programmes Set to Launch
Starting from the 2025/2026 academic session, students will have access to a broader selection of undergraduate courses aimed at addressing emerging global challenges. The newly approved undergraduate programmes include:
- B.Sc. Wildlife and Eco-Tourism Management – Focusing on conservation, eco-tourism development, and biodiversity management.
- B.Sc. Forest Resource Management – Equipping students with skills in sustainable forest utilization and ecosystem restoration.
- B.Sc. Hydrology and Water Resource Management – Addressing critical issues in water conservation, flood management, and water security.
- B.Sc. Climate Science and Agricultural Meteorology – Training students to analyze climate patterns and their impact on agriculture.
- B.Sc. Cooperative Studies – Preparing professionals to manage cooperative organizations and community-based enterprises.
- B.Sc. Development Studies – Offering insights into socio-economic policies, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development strategies.
Expansion of Postgraduate Programmes
Beyond undergraduate studies, the NUC has also approved several postgraduate programmes, reinforcing FUNAAB’s commitment to advanced research and innovation. The newly sanctioned postgraduate degrees include:
- PGD, M.Sc., Ph.D. in Mechatronics Engineering – Integrating mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to develop intelligent systems.
- PGD, M.Sc., Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship Studies – Designed to cultivate business leadership and innovation strategies.
- Professional Master in Integrated Water Resources Management – Addressing water sustainability and governance on a global scale.
