JAMB Schedules 2025 UTME Mop-Up Exam For June 28
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has locked in Saturday, June 28, 2025, as the date for its mop-up examination, designed for candidates who missed out on the earlier rounds of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Who’s Sitting for the Exam?
In a statement released by JAMB’s Public Communications Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, it was revealed that 96,838 candidates will take part in this special round of testing.
- 91,742 of them simply didn’t show up for the initial or rescheduled UTME sessions.
- The remaining 5,096 are candidates whose biometric details couldn’t be verified during their earlier attempts.
What Candidates Should Know
From Monday, June 23, 2025, all candidates involved in the mop-up should begin printing their notification slips — a crucial document that provides details like exam venue and time.
The exam will be conducted across 183 designated centres nationwide, though a few individuals have been placed on standby, possibly to fill slots left by ineligible or disqualified candidates.
CBT Centres Under Fire
JAMB has taken serious disciplinary steps this year, delisting 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.
These centres were found guilty of various offences, ranging from poor technical performance to outright exam fraud.
Investigations are ongoing, and if found culpable, those running these centres — including their collaborators — may face legal consequences.
One of the more troubling findings from JAMB’s probe is the involvement of organized fraud networks.
According to the board, certain school owners, tutorial centres, and alarmingly, even a few insiders within JAMB have been linked to these schemes.
Thanks to intelligence support from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police, and the Civil Defence Corps, several cases of identity theft and impersonation have been uncovered and are now being processed.
Changes to Exam Towns and Centre Reassignments
As part of its clean-up, JAMB has also deactivated several exam towns where irregularities were recorded.
Candidates affected by this change won’t be left stranded; they will be relocated to the nearest available centres.
The board appealed to students to remain calm and cooperative, assuring them that efforts are being made to ensure a smooth testing experience.
JAMB took a hardline stance on impersonation, particularly noting that some culprits are undergraduate students who had no business participating in the UTME.
Any student caught engaging in impersonation risks:
- Immediate expulsion from their current institution.
- Possible arrest and prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999.
Mop-Up Exam Day Details
The first session of the mop-up exam begins promptly at 8:00 AM.
Candidates are expected to be at their centres at least an hour before the start time.
All centres will be closely supervised by special JAMB invigilators, alongside security agents, to ensure the process remains fair and free from compromise.
