Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has rolled out the program for its much-anticipated 9th Convocation Ceremony, set to unfold over a week of academic, cultural, and developmental events.

The institution, known for its rapid growth and commitment to excellence, has lined up a series of activities that will celebrate academic achievements, infrastructural milestones, and community engagement.

The ceremonies will commence on Monday, February 17, 2025, and conclude on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Monday, 17th February 2025 – Official Kickoff

• Vice-Chancellor’s Press Conference (Council Chamber) | 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• Commissioning of Landmark Projects (Oye Campus)
  • 1000-Seater Auditorium
  • Conference Centre
  • Faculty of Science Laboratory
  • Newly Built CBT Centre
  • Professorial Office Complex

This opening day will set the stage for the week-long celebration, with the Vice-Chancellor addressing the press to highlight the university’s progress and future plans.

The commissioning of several key infrastructure projects will also take place, showcasing FUOYE’s commitment to expanding its academic and research facilities.

Tuesday, 18th February 2025 – Community Engagement Begins

• Free Health Care Outreach (Oye-Ekiti Community) (Palace of the Oloye of Oye-Ekiti) | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

As part of FUOYE’s dedication to social responsibility, medical professionals and student volunteers will provide essential healthcare services to the Oye-Ekiti community.

Wednesday, 19th February 2025 – Expanding Infrastructure & Student Inductions

• Free Health Care Outreach (Ikole Community) (Palace of the Elekole of Ikole-Ekiti) | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Commissioning of Additional Projects (Ayedun-Ekiti & Ikole Campus)
  • Ayedun-Ekiti: Ultra-Modern Laboratory, Two Modern Lecture Halls, Sports Complex
  • Ikole Campus: Professorial Building (Faculty of Agriculture), 250-Seater Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Agriculture Laboratory, Block of Six Classrooms
• Induction Ceremony for Engineering Students (Faculty of Engineering Lecture Hall) | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

This day will focus on expanding FUOYE’s academic footprint, with the unveiling of new state-of-the-art facilities across multiple campuses. The Faculty of Engineering will also induct its latest batch of students, symbolizing their transition into the profession.

Thursday, 20th February 2025 – Honoring Staff and Celebrating Creativity

• Vice-Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Awards | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Fundraising & Edutainment Event (Faculty of Science Lecture Hall) | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Command Performance by Theatre & Media Arts Students

Faculty and staff who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the university will be recognized during the Staff Excellence Awards.

Later in the day, the university will host a fundraising event alongside an edutainment session, featuring a command performance by Theatre and Media Arts students.

Friday, 21st February 2025 – Graduation Begins

• Award of Bachelor’s Degrees, Diplomas & Prizes (1000-Seater Auditorium, Oye Campus) | 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
• Jummah Service (University Mosque) | 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

The first batch of graduating students will officially receive their degrees and academic awards, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. The day will conclude with a special Jummah service for the Muslim community.

Saturday, 22nd February 2025 – Convocation Lecture & Postgraduate Awards

• Convocation Lecture by Arc. Sonny Sylva Echono | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Degrees & Honorary Degrees (1000-Seater Auditorium, Oye Campus) | 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

A distinguished guest, Arc. Sonny Sylva Echono, will deliver the convocation lecture, offering insights into key academic and professional themes.

The afternoon session will be dedicated to honoring postgraduate students and conferring honorary degrees on distinguished personalities.

Sunday, 23rd February 2025 – Thanksgiving Service & Grand Finale
