Ekiti State University (EKSU) Gets NUC Accreditation For 18 Programmes

The Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) has just hit another major academic milestone.

The National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja, has granted full accreditation to eighteen academic programmes across various faculties, solidifying EKSU’s growing profile as one of Nigeria’s leading state-owned universities.

Accreditation Confirmed by NUC

According to a letter issued by the NUC and signed by Engineer Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation, the approval came after a thorough evaluation exercise conducted during the commission’s October/November 2024 accreditation visit to the institution.

The notification was formally dated April 30, 2025, and addressed to EKSU’s Vice Chancellor.

Programmes That Now Hold Full Accreditation

The newly approved programmes span a wide array of disciplines across six faculties, reflecting the university’s expanding academic capacity and relevance to present-day educational demands.

Reacting to the news, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Joseph Babatola Ayodele, described the development as “a dream realized through consistent hard work.”

He acknowledged the commitment of both academic and non-teaching staff who played active roles during the accreditation process.

According to him, this success reaffirms the university’s preparedness to meet the academic and career development needs of students across Nigeria.

Recognized Among Nigeria’s Top State Universities

The accreditation comes on the heels of EKSU’s recent recognition by the Times Higher Education 2025 University Rankings, where it was named the best state university in Nigeria.

This latest achievement only strengthens the institution’s standing on the national and global academic stage.

Acknowledgments from the University Management

The Vice Chancellor also extended heartfelt appreciation to key figures behind the university’s steady progress:
