Bingham University Gets NUC Approval For Five New Academic Programmes
Bingham University has secured full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for five of its academic programmes, marking a major milestone in its continued pursuit of academic excellence.
The university’s success follows the NUC’s October/November 2024 accreditation exercise, during which various academic offerings across Nigerian universities were subjected to detailed scrutiny.
In a formal letter signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, who is the Acting Director of Academic Planning (Programme Accreditation), the NUC confirmed that the approved programmes have been granted full accreditation for a five-year period.
The letter, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, acknowledged that the following courses met the standards required by the commission:
- Accounting
- Guidance and Counselling
- Library and Information Science
- Medicine and Surgery
- Industrial Mathematics
A Win for the University Community
Reacting to the announcement, Professor Ayuba expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing it as a testament to the university’s dedication to quality teaching, research, and academic integrity.
He praised the collective effort of the faculty, staff, and students, attributing the achievement to their hard work and commitment.
“This is a proud moment for Bingham. It reinforces our vision to offer academic programmes that not only meet national standards but are also relevant to societal needs,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
What Accreditation Really Means
Accreditation from the NUC is more than a procedural green light—it’s a seal of credibility. It signifies that a programme has been thoroughly evaluated and deemed capable of delivering quality education based on criteria like staffing, curriculum content, teaching resources, research output, and infrastructure.
In the case of Bingham University, the accreditation also affirms that the institution is aligning itself with the academic and professional expectations needed to prepare graduates for global relevance.
Looking Ahead
With this new accreditation, Bingham University is set to strengthen its role in shaping the next generation of professionals across key disciplines. From accounting offices to hospital wards, from libraries to classrooms—students of these programmes can now move forward with confidence, knowing their degrees carry solid institutional backing.
Bingham University’s latest accreditation is not just a formal approval—it’s a vote of confidence in the institution’s ability to deliver world-class education across diverse fields.
