CLARITY-Africa is inviting applications for its fully funded 2025 PhD scholarship programme.

This opportunity is designed for students interested in research on climate change and public health.

The selected candidates will pursue their PhD studies at either the University of Ghana or the AIMS Research and Innovation Centre (AIMS RIC).

CLARITY-Africa focuses on understanding the impact of climate on daily life in African cities, examining heat, floods, and the vulnerabilities of both people and spaces.

The project operates in Accra, Tamale, Kigali, and Musanze, led by Imperial College London in partnership with top African universities and city organizations.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants Must:

• Be a citizen of any African country
• Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field
• Relevant fields include: climate science, economics, geography, demography, public health, environmental studies, mathematics, and physical sciences
• Be willing to research topics aligned with CLARITY-Africa’s mission
• Have experience using research tools and the ability to communicate research ideas effectively
• Demonstrate prior academic work and strong research potential
• Current PhD students in their first year at the University of Ghana are also eligible to apply

Required Documents

Each application must include the following:

• Statement of Purpose (up to 2,000 words) outlining research interests and how the scholarship will support academic goals
• Two-page Research Proposal detailing proposed study focus
• Comprehensive Academic CV including educational background and research experience
• Copies of Graduate Certificates and Transcripts
• Two Academic Referees (names, emails, and phone numbers)
