Al-Ansar University Gets Full NUC Approval For 15 Degree Programmes

Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri has officially received full accreditation for 15 undergraduate programmes from the National Universities Commission (NUC).

This development isn’t just another tick on a checklist. It’s a turning point. For a relatively young private university, rooted in the historic Kanem-Borno region, gaining full NUC approval for such a wide range of programmes is no small feat.

Founded by Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, mni, Al-Ansar University was born from a dream to bring top-tier, values-based education to the heart of Northeast Nigeria.

The institution has grown steadily, anchored in purpose and built with care — from its peaceful, student-focused campus to its modern lecture halls, digital library, and cutting-edge science and tech labs.

Computing Programmes Get Extra Recognition

Beyond the NUC’s stamp of approval, the university’s computing-related courses were also fully accredited by the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

This additional validation reinforces the strength of Al-Ansar’s tech offerings, and reflects its readiness to train students for Nigeria’s growing digital economy.

Other Regulatory Bodies in the Pipeline

Al-Ansar University has also hosted visits from several other professional councils, including:

  • Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria
  • Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria

The university is currently expecting further visits from:

These assessments, once concluded, will further solidify Al-Ansar’s position as a full-spectrum academic institution ready to meet professional standards in multiple fields.

More Than Just Degrees

What sets Al-Ansar apart isn’t just the certificates it offers. It’s the bigger mission — to develop well-rounded graduates who are not only academically sound but also grounded in ethics, discipline, and real-world problem-solving skills.

The institution aims to raise individuals who can thrive globally and contribute meaningfully at home.

A Moment of Pride, A Call to Keep Going

The Vice-Chancellor, speaking on behalf of the management, congratulated faculty members, non-teaching staff, parents, students, and stakeholders who made this milestone possible.

This success is a shared one — born of teamwork, belief, and a relentless drive to improve.

“This achievement isn’t the finish line. It’s a signal that we’re on the right track. And it challenges us to aim even higher,” the Vice-Chancellor noted.

Al-Ansar University’s latest accreditation success is more than just good news — it’s a reflection of what happens when vision meets hard work. For the students, it’s a reassurance that they’re in capable hands. For the nation, it’s a reminder that transformative education is taking root where it’s needed the most.
