Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Postgraduate Admission Form 2025
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, is now accepting applications from qualified candidates for admission into its various postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Available Programmes
ATBU offers a wide range of postgraduate programmes, including:
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
- Master of Science (M.Sc.)
- Master of Technology Education (M.Tech. Ed)
- Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)
- M.Sc. in Embedded Artificial Intelligence
- Master of Technology (M.Tech.)
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Master of Health Management (MHM)
- Master of Accounting and Finance (MAFS)
- Master of Information Technology Management (MITM)
- Master of Development Studies (MDS)
- Master of Facility Management (MFM)
- Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD) in areas like Procurement Management, Sustainable Environmental Studies, and Sustainable Social Development.

Admission Requirements
1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- Credit pass in English and Mathematics at O’Level (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB).
- A minimum of Third Class Degree from ATBU or any recognized university.
- HND holders with at least Lower Credit.
- Other qualifications with relevant work experience may be considered.
2. Master’s Degree
- O’Level credit in English and Mathematics.
- A minimum of Second Class Lower Degree from ATBU or any approved university.
- Candidates with a CGPA of 3.00 and above on a 5-point scale.
- Applicants with CGPA between 2.40 – 2.99 must have at least 3 years post-graduation experience.
- Third Class graduates with 5 years of relevant experience may be considered.
- A relevant PGD with at least credit level may also qualify you.
- HND holders with PGD in relevant areas can apply.
- A qualifying exam may be required.
3. Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) / Masters by Research
- Second Class Upper Degree from ATBU or other recognized institutions.
- Or Second Class Lower with relevant work experience.
4. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
- O’Level credit in English and Mathematics.
- A Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.0 scale.
- Applicants may need to pass a qualifying exam or complete a probationary period of up to 12 months.

Note: Engineering PGD programmes run for 24 – 48 months.
How to Apply
- Visit the application portal at www.pgatbu.com.ng or pgatbu.admissions.cloud.
- Application forms cost N11,000.
- Forms are available from June 23, 2025, to September 29, 2025, for PGD, Master’s, and Ph.D. programmes.
- Ph.D. forms are available all year round.
- Submit your completed form online along with scanned copies of your credentials.
- Use a valid email and phone number – you’ll get updates through them.
- Ensure your transcripts are sent directly from your previous institution to the Head of Department of your chosen programme.
- Ph.D. applicants must upload a pre-proposal or synopsis and also send a hard copy to the department by post.
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is mandatory. Don’t apply if you don’t have it.
The final deadline for submitting your application is September 30, 2025. Successful candidates will be contacted via email.
