The ABU School of Basic and Remedial Studies (SBRS), in Funtua, has begun the sale of admission forms for the 2025/2026 academic year.

Whether you’re targeting Direct Entry through IJMB or you’re looking for a Remedial pathway into 100 Level, ABU’s SBRS has structured programs designed to help you get there.

Programmes Available

There are two main options under the SBRS:

1. Basic (IJMB) Studies Programme

This route is ideal for candidates who wish to gain admission into 200 Level in ABU or any other university through Direct Entry.

• Duration: 12 months
• Requirement: Minimum of 5 O’Level credits including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.

Subject Combinations Available

Choose any one of the combinations that matches your interest:

• BS1: Biology, Chemistry, Physics
• BS2: Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics
• BS3: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics
• BS4: Chemistry, Geography, Physics
• BS5: Mathematics, Geography, Physics

Candidates are also expected to register for the 2024 JAMB Direct Entry.

2. Remedial Studies Programme

This programme is targeted at students who need to boost their O’Level results or missed out on university admission but still want another chance.

• Duration: 9 months
• Requirement: At least three science credits in a single sitting, plus two passes in other subjects.

Subject Combinations Offered

Choose from the following:

• RS1: Biology, Chemistry, Geography
• RS2: Biology, Chemistry, Physics
• RS3: Biology, Geography, Physics
• RS4: Chemistry, Geography, Physics

Remedial candidates must also register for the 2025 UTME, select ABU as first choice, and aim to pass all deficient O’Level subjects during the programme.

How to Apply

Applying is simple but must be done carefully. Follow these steps:

1. Go to the official portal: sbrs.abu.edu.ng
2. Create an Account: Provide your full name, choose your gender, enter an active email address, and set a secure password.
3. Login using your email and password.
4. Select the Programme you’re applying for:
   • Remedial: RS1 – RS4
   • Basic (IJMB): BS1 – BS5
5. Update your profile:
   • Fill in your biodata
   • Contact details
   • Upload your O’Level results
   • Upload a recent passport photograph
6. Click “Buy Form”, then choose to either:
   • Pay online using an ATM card
   • Or Print the transaction slip and pay at any commercial bank
7. Once payment is confirmed:
   • If you paid via ABU Microfinance Bank, enter your Teller Number and e-Transaction Pin
   • If you used another bank, input your Deposit Slip Number and Receipt Number
8. Hit “Submit” and complete your application.

• Form Sales Begin: Monday, 30th June, 2025
• Deadline: Tuesday, 31st December, 2025
• Application Fee: Not explicitly stated; payment is through the portal or partner banks. Ensure you obtain a valid e-Transaction Pin.
