CUSTECH Osara Get NUC Approval For Two Academic Programmes
The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has received a green light from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to fully run two additional degree programmes—Applied Geophysics and Geology.
The NUC gave the go-ahead following its routine accreditation exercise, carried out between October and November 2024, to assess the quality and readiness of various academic programmes.
According to Pharm. Muhammed Asuku, CUSTECH’s Director of Academic Planning, these two programmes—both under the Department of Geophysics—met the Commission’s standards during the thorough inspection process.
Confirmation from the NUC
The news came through an official letter signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, the Acting Director of Accreditation at NUC, on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
The letter emphasised that the move aligns with the NUC’s core mandate—to evaluate, approve, and maintain academic excellence across Nigerian universities.
This stamp of approval means the programmes have been found worthy in terms of staffing, facilities, curriculum, and overall academic structure.

Excitement from CUSTECH Leadership
The Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, Engr. Prof. A.A. Salawu, who had just wrapped up a planning meeting for the school’s maiden convocation, received the news with great joy. He didn’t hold back his excitement, expressing heartfelt congratulations to the entire university community—both staff and students.
Prof. Salawu took a moment to reflect on the university’s steady progress. He reminded everyone that CUSTECH’s initial eleven programmes were all successfully accredited during the first round of assessments in 2023.
He also gave a strong assurance that CUSTECH would continue working proactively to ensure that all its programmes—existing or newly introduced—achieve full accreditation on schedule.
What This Means Going Forward
With this latest nod from the NUC, Applied Geophysics and Geology now officially join CUSTECH’s expanding academic portfolio. These programmes are set to run with full accreditation status for the next five years, after which they’ll be reviewed again.
This achievement not only strengthens the institution’s academic standing but also positions CUSTECH as a fast-rising centre of excellence for science and technology education in Nigeria.
CUSTECH has added two more accredited programmes to its academic lineup, thanks to the successful outcome of the 2024 NUC accreditation exercise. The school’s management sees this as another step toward becoming a top-tier university of choice in the country.
